IDEATION WORKSHOP September 29 - October 10, 2013 Banda Aceh

 

AIM

The aim of the October 2013 workshop was to:

1. Expand five key theme highlighted as development opportunities from earlier research

2. Mentor and equip participants in design thinking and entrepreneurship

 

METHOD

A collaborative design thinking workshop was held in Banda Aceh in October 2013.

Students from faculties of architecture, business, engineering and visual communication travelled from University of Tehcnology Sydney to work alongside architecture students from Syiah Kuala University.The workshop focused on expanding the five key themes of coffee industry, tourism, digital media and technology, and a physical innovation space, all of which had been key areas highlighted as development opportunities.Participants were mentored and equipped in design thinking and entrepreneurship by academics, business practitioners and architects, through a series of design workshops to ideate new business ventures to meet the needs in the five focus areas.

 

OUTCOMES

Through this workshop we achieved our two aims as stated above, with the resulting outcome of five projects developed by participants over the course of the workshop.Shown here are brief pitches for each of the five projects.

Each includes:

a) The situation the project is responding to

b) The HOW MIGHT WE question framing the problem and envisioning the outcome of the solution
